Local Companies Collect 500 Pounds of Food for Harvest Hope
(COLUMBIA, SC—January 6, 2012)
A group of Columbia companies piled donation bins full of non-perishable goods this November, collecting more than 500 pounds of food for Harvest Hope, a South Carolina food bank.
The food drive was held at Columbia Conference Center and was contributed to by 21 other companies, many of which are located in the Westpark office park. Employees from the participating businesses brought in hundreds of boxes, cans, and personal care goods such as diapers to help stock Harvest Hope’s shelves for the holiday season.
“It’s always important to take care of your neighbor,” said Blake DuBose, owner of DuBose Web Group. “This is even truer now, with so many families having a hard time just putting food on the table. I applaud our Westpark family’s generosity.”
Harvest Hope is a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving 20 counties in the Midlands, Pee Dee, and Greater Greenville areas. Over 2 million people turned to Harvest Hope for emergency food assistance in the fiscal year 2009-2010, an increase of 15% from the previous year.
